New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie stopped by David Letterman‘s show on Monday night — and he made sure to bring his own snack. Affirming his “deep and abiding love” for the comedian, Christie whipped out a donut and started eating it.
“I didn’t know this was going to be this long,” he told Letterman.
Asked about Letterman’s fat jokes about him, Christie said he wasn’t particularly bothered. If “the joke is funny, I laugh, even if it’s about me,” the governor said. “If it’s not funny, I don’t laugh. But I’ve never felt like it was, you know, anything that really bugged me all that much, no.”
So, how many has he found funny? About “40 percent,” Christie said. And he even recited a couple of his favorites.
“And this one I thought, I don’t know if it’s one of your best ones, but I think it’s very topical given what went on yesterday,” Christie said” ”A billion dollars will be spent on potato chips for Super Bowl Sunday, and that’s just at Gov. Christie’s house.”
Laughing, Letterman shared Christie’s donut.
