Five men have been formally charged in court with the gang rape and murder of a 23-year-old Indian physiotherapy student. The Dec. 16 attack on the student and a male companion has provoked protests in new Delhi and fueled a nationwide debate about sexual crimes in India.
A sixth accused is under 18 and will be tried separately in a juvenile court.
